The Scenario

MetaVenture Partners is a 2.1 million to an account for a “time-sensitive opportunity.” She had nearly completed the wire transfer when her CFO questioned the request.

Except David Huang never sent that email. What had happened was a business-email-compromise-bec attack, where threat actors spoofed MetaVenture’s email domain entirely.
